From the Director:
Recently, I heard disturbing news and although it may seem slightly disinteresting to most of you, I feel it is a matter worth mentioning. A great colleague-highly respected by most and admired by all has taken a step down from her position as a well-respected canine rescuer. The reason it strikes me as alarming, it the simple reason that Kathy had such passion for the dogs, which passed through her organization, it is difficult for me to believe that she has decided to move on in her life.
Kathy Nixon is a respectful and dedicated woman who served as the Golden Retriever Rescue Club of Charlotte’s Chairperson. Not only did Kathy create one of the tightest ships I have ever seen, she also kept it in motion for over thirteen years. I can only hope that Swiftdogz Border Collie Rescue is regarded as respectable as GRRCC. And continues to maintain the high level of quality it has thus far.
As a tribute to Kathy, this newsletter serves as a foundation to a rescue mission like no other, and Swiftdogz Border Collie Rescue/Canines Can Change plans to uphold standards and ideals to which Kathy has instilled and inspired in me. So, Kathy if you read this, thank you and best wishes. You truly are my inspiration and motivation; the “Goldens” will not be the same without you.
